Still, when you first start a blog you may think that all you need to make it the greatest within your niche, is to have amazing blog posts. Well, you’re kind of right there! Good content creation is the most important part of running a successful blog. This is your storefront… Your book cover if you will! It will normally be the first impression your visitor has of you and he should immediately understand what your page is about.
It is also crucial that your website’s home page follows the stylish niche you decided upon, during your pre-launch process and that it guides your reader through your blog in an effortless manner.
Now, if you are not a web designer (I am guilty too in case you haven’t noticed!), your page may not be as catchy and interactive as you’d wish. Well, we’ll get there at some point… You can always invest in that later and get help from an expert!
Here are some ideas to consider including on your home page:
- A unique selling point (why is your blog worth visiting?)
- A call to action (such as a freebie to download or a simple newsletter form)
- A way of building trust (partners, testimonials, etc)
- A “start here” section dedicated to new visitors
- Your top selling products
Well, this one is quite obvious, I know!
But make sure that the blog section of your website is easy to find within seconds of landing. If you are a blogger, getting visitors to read your blog is probably your main goal so make sure they do get to read it!

- Your audience also expects a specific type of content and communication manner from you. Make sure you don’t disappoint them by providing them with steady and relevant content.

Having an About page that introduces both YOU (the person writing that extraordinary content!) and your PRODUCT (that’s your blog or business!) is essential.
You should let your readers know what your page is about and how it came to play. Also, go ahead and include pictures of yourself of course. Don’t be shy!
You’ll be surprised to know that many bloggers forget to include a way for visitors to get in touch with them.
While I can understand your blog is your route to express yourself or to provide a sense of purpose by delivering informative content to your community, you could be missing out a lot by not have a “Contact Me” page or at least an easy-to-find address.
On this blog (and for the time being), I’ve opted to have only an email address on the page button for example. While it is not a whole contact me page, it is extremely straightforward.
